No. A vault is encrypted with your master password and optional key file, and nothing leaves your device. The developer has no account, server, or recovery key and cannot reset or recover a master password. Keep a copy of important vaults and key files outside the app.

Vaults you import or create are placed in the KeyPass X folder of your iCloud Drive, so the same encrypted file appears on every device signed in to your Apple Account. Vaults opened from other locations stay where they are. Before each save the app keeps an encrypted copy of the previous version in its own storage.

KDBX 4 vaults can be opened and edited. KDBX 3 vaults and files with parser warnings open read-only to avoid conversion or data loss. Custom fields, attachments, groups, and entry history from other KeePass clients are preserved. Your vaults remain usable with any KeePass-compatible app.

Choose Use Face ID next time or Use Touch ID next time under the unlock options, then unlock manually once. A derived unlock key is stored in this device’s Keychain behind the device passcode and biometrics; the master password itself is never stored. Disable biometric unlock deletes that key.

It places the vault’s unlock key in iCloud Keychain, so other devices signed in to your Apple Account can unlock the same iCloud Drive vault after Face ID, Touch ID, or the device passcode. It is optional and off by default. Stop sharing unlock key removes it from every device.

After the first successful unlock on iPhone or iPad, the app asks to turn on AutoFill. If you dismissed it, open More → Settings → Password AutoFill and enable the vault, or enable KeyPass X under iOS Settings → General → AutoFill & Passwords. Website and username suggestions appear in other apps and on websites; a password is filled only after you choose it and authenticate.

The watch needs a passcode and Wrist Detection turned on, and must be worn and unlocked. Open and unlock the vault on the paired iPhone with the Watch app open to send the first encrypted copy. Later updates sync through your private iCloud. Neither the master password nor the vault’s unlock key is transferred to the watch.

Another device or app saved the same file. KeyPass X reloads external changes and never overwrites them silently. If you edited the same entry, it asks which version to keep. Resolve any iCloud file conflict in Files before saving again.

The app locks as soon as it goes to the background, and on Mac also on sleep. Returning within a minute restores where you were after authentication. Copied values are cleared from the clipboard after the time chosen in Settings.

Delete a vault file to remove it, remove AutoFill copies in Settings, disable biometric unlock or stop sharing the unlock key from the unlock options, and choose Remove from Watch on the watch. Deleting the app removes its local files.

No. KeyPass X has no account, subscription, advertising, or analytics. App Store purchases, if any, are handled by Apple under its terms.
